Howard Printing Wins Awards in 2015 “Awards of Excellence” Competition

April 2015, BRATTLEBORO, VT — Howard Printing, Inc., was recognized in the Eighth Annual New England Regional “Awards of Excellence” Print Competition, presented by the Printing Industries of New England (PINE).

Landmark College Putney Vermont

A first-place “Pinnacle” award was earned for Landmark College’s 2014 Viewbook and a third-place “Award of Merit” for the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center’s World Leaders & Global Citizens: Photographs by Patrick Leahy, U.S. Senator (Vermont).

The Landmark College Viewbook was designed by Howard Printing’s own graphic design and prepress specialist Benjamin Briggs, working closely with Landmark College Director of Marketing and Communications Mark DiPietro and his colleagues.

Located in Putney, Vermont, Landmark College was the first institution of higher education to pioneer college-level studies for students with dyslexia. Today it is the leader in creating successful learning strategies for students with learning disabilities (such as dyslexia), ADHD, and ASD.

The Leahy photography book was designed by Danny Lichtenfeld, the director of the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center. Located just off Main Street in downtown Brattleboro, BMAC is an independent, non-collecting museum whose mission is to present art and ideas in ways that inspire, educate, and engage audiences of all ages.

According to Greg Howard, founder and president of Howard Printing, “We are so proud to have our work and our clients recognized by our peers in the graphics industry.”

The competition attracted more than 300 entries from 40 printing and imaging companies across New England. Each entry was judged anonymously on its own merit in a category with similarly printed pieces by a panel of non-New England printing experts.

The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery.
